Homemade Beef Dog Biscuits

Homemade Beef Dog Biscuits

Last month I shared my Healthy Popsicle Recipes for Your Dog and since then I’ve been wanting to make homemade dog biscuits.

Most of the recipes I found for homemade dog biscuits were made with fruits, vegetables, peanut butter, or flour.

I wanted to make meat dog biscuits because like I’ve said before, dogs are meat eaters.

So, I made my fur babies beef dog biscuits with ground beef, diced green beans, pumpkin purée, cooked oatmeal, and eggs.

Wholesome ingredients with no preservatives, artificial fillers, dyes, or flour and with real beef. Something you can feed your dog and feel good about what’s in it.

Plus, they won’t cost you $25.00 for a small 8-ounce bag like the ones you see in the stores these days.

You can make these under $8.00, depending on if you already have some of the ingredients in your kitchen.

All my dogs have given these homemade beef dog biscuits four paws up!

One thing to note, since these do not have any flour, there’s no rolling out of the dough.

To get the cute shape of the dog biscuit cutter, I placed the biscuit cutter on the lined cookie sheet and filled it (one at a time) about half full and then gently removed the biscuit cutter in an upwards motion.

I did this with an ungreased dog biscuit cutter and it worked great!

Then I tried it with a greased dog biscuit cutter (I rubbed coconut oil on the inside of the biscuit cutter) to see if it would work better. The results were the ungreased dog biscuit cutter came away from the raw beef mixture much easier and cleaner than the greased one.

Now I don’t know if this had anything to do with using coconut oil instead of olive oil or what. But the ungreased worked much better for me.

If you’re feeling a little adventurous and you do grease your dog biscuit cutter with olive oil, please let me know how it works for you.

If you don’t have a dog biscuit cutter, you can still make these by either rolling them into balls or using any other type of cookie or biscuit cutter you own.

Your dog is going to love these Homemade Beef Dog Biscuits no matter what their shape!

Homemade Beef Dog Biscuits are easy to make for your pooch! Made with wholesome ingredients like real ground beef, pumpkin puree, cooked oatmeal, fresh green beans, and eggs so you can feel good about giving these treats to your dog. Gluten-free, dye-free, preservative-free, sugar-free.

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 cup pure pumpkin puree
  • 1 and 1/2 cups oatmeal, cooked
  • 1 bunch (about 2 cups) fresh green beans, rinsed and diced
  • 2 eggs, beaten

  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
  2. In a large skillet, add ground beef and diced green beans. Cook over medium heat until browned.
  3. Turn heat down between medium and low.
  4. Stir in pumpkin puree with beef mixture.
  5. Add uncooked oats into a cereal bowl, add enough water to moisten oats, stirring well. Place into microwave for about 45 seconds to cook. Remove from microwave and stir together. If oatmeal seems a little dry, add in a little more water until moistened.
  6. Combine cooked oatmeal with beef mixture, stirring well throughout.
  7. Remove skillet from heat and set aside until mixture cools, about 20 to 30 minutes.
  8. This is a good time to line cookie sheets with parchment paper while you wait for beef mixture to cool.
  9. After beef mixture is cooled, add in beaten eggs, mixing all ingredients together. Mixture will be a little wet.
  10. Place dog biscuit cutter onto lined cookie sheet, add in beef mixture, pressing down to fill out dog biscuit cutter. I added about enough to fill the biscuit cutter 1/2 full. If you like, you can make these thin by adding less mixture or you can make them thicker by adding more mixture. Although I wouldn’t fill them all the way up to the top of the dog biscuit cutter.
  11. Gently pull dog biscuit cutter up to remove from dog biscuit. Use your fingers to re-shape if some of the beef mixture comes off with biscuit cutter. Repeat until all mixture is used.
  12. Bake for 25 minutes at 350F degrees.
  13. After 25 minutes, turn oven down to 200F degrees and continue baking for 1 and 1/2 hours.
  14. For crispier dog biscuits, leave in oven after baking until cooled.
  15. Let dog biscuits cool completely on cookie sheets before giving to your dog.
  16. Store in an airtight container in your refrigerator until ready to give to your pups as a treat.

  • If you don’t have a dog biscuit cutter, you can also roll these into balls or use a biscuit or cookie cutter.
